Festival of India in Japan 2007

To mark the 50th Anniversary of the India-Japan Cultural Exchange Agreement, the year 2007 was celebrated as the India Japan Friendship Year. As a part of the friendship year, a Festival of India in Japan and Festival of Japan in India were held.

The related Festivals of India and Japan were jointly inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Ministers of India and Japan on 14 December 2006. The two Prime Ministers also launched the joint logo used for the India Japan Friendship Year. The concluding concert of the Festival of India in Japan, held in Tokyo on 10 December 2007, was attended by Mr. Yoshiro Mori, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Japan-India Association as the Guest of Honour, along with other official dignitaries, leading business persons and representatives of cultural organizations.

A series of more than 150 cultural programmes, exhibitions, theme festivals and seminars were organized across Japan throughout 2007 to mark the Festival of India in Japan.
